She was 23 years old at the time of auditioning and was from St. George, Utah, U.S.
For the blind auditions she chose to sing "Bubbly" by Colbie Caillat. Both Cee Lo Green and Blake Shelton turned their chairs around but Dia elected to join Blake's team.
For the battle rounds Blake chose to team her up with fellow contestant Serabee and gave them the song "You Can't Hurry Love" by The Supremes. After the performance Blake chose to save Dia and Serabee was eliminated from the competition.
For the quarterfinals she chose to sing "Heartless" by Kanye West. She also performed with Blake and the rest of her team to "This Love" by Maroon 5. Dia was given the Public's Vote and went through to the next round with Xenia.
For the semi-finals she chose to sing "Losing My Religion" by R.E.M. She also performed with the rest of the Final 8 contestants to a "Faith/Freedom! '90" medley by George Michael. Dia gained the most votes and advanced to the finals whilst Xenia was eliminated.
For the finals the final 4 contestants each sang an original song. Dia sang the song "Inventing Shadows" and then sang a duet with her coach Blake to "I Won't Back Down" by Tom Petty. She also sang a duet with Miranda Lambert to the song "The House That Built Me".
Dia was the runner-up, Vicci Martinez and Beverly McClellan were joint 3rd/4th and Javier Colon went on to win the competition.
